Women & Fertility After Cancer

Choices After Treatment

After treatment, fertility may return, decrease, or stop permanently.

What you can do:

  • Request a fertility evaluation with a reproductive endocrinologist.
  • Ask about tests: AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone), FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone), LH Luteinizing Hormone, estradiol (a type of estrogen), and pelvic ultrasound for ovarian reserve.
  • Wait at least 12 months after chemotherapy before trying to conceive.
  • If your periods don’t return within a year, or are irregular, get hormone testing.
