Young Adults Dating After Cancer

Engage in self-reflection—what are some changes to your identity post cancer?

Cancer survivors often experience changes post-cancer that affect how they see themselves and relate to others:

  1. Changes to their body and overall appearance
  2. Loss of the old normal or life as it was prior to cancer
  3. Feelings of vulnerability and anxiety that cancer could return
  4. Changes in roles and loss of independence—maybe you were the one everyone relied on and now you need assistance

Consider journaling about these changes, talking with a counselor or participating in a support group to make sense of these changes and define what you are looking for in a partner.
